The short version
Think Capital runs one evaluation program for forex and CFD traders. The headline one, Dual Step (Intraday), asks for 9% then 5% across 2 phases with a 7% static max loss and a 4% daily loss limit. This page puts every Think Capital rule set in one table, runs each through thousands of simulated challenges to show what the rules alone do to your odds, and opens a chart that enforces them candle by candle — so you can rehearse the Think Capital challenge on real historical data before you pay for one.

What the Think Capital rules do to your odds
The same trader passes one firm's challenge far more often than another's, and the difference is the rules, not the trader. To isolate it, each program below was run through the CRTLAB challenge simulator for three traders: a break-even one (50% wins at 1:1 — zero edge, so any pass is the rules' slack plus luck), a small edge (45% at 1:1.5) and a solid edge (45% at 1:2).
A break-even trader passes Dual Step (Intraday) 21.5% of the time — that is luck alone, and it is the number to beat.
| Program | Break-even trader | Small edge | Solid edge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual Step (Intraday) | 21.5% | 57.4% | 84.1% |
Simulated: $100k account, 1% risk per trade, 2 trades a day, 60 trading days or the program's own limit; multi-phase programs multiply each phase's pass rate. Min-day and consistency rules are not simulated. Run your own numbers in the prop firm challenge calculator.
The rule most likely to end a Think Capital attempt
On Dual Step (Intraday) the target (9%) is 1.3× the 7% loss allowance — a middle-of-the-road shape. Neither rule dominates; an average edge at sensible risk passes more often than not.
The max loss is static, measured from the starting balance — the most forgiving kind. Profit you bank widens your room rather than dragging the floor up behind you.
There is a 4% daily loss limit, measured from the higher of the day's starting balance and equity. With only 7% in total, two bad days are the whole account.
You need at least 3 trading days before a phase can pass, so a single big day does not finish it.
In simulation, a trader with a small edge (45% wins at 1:1.5, 1% risk) fails 24.6% of phase-one attempts on the max loss; the ones who pass take a median of 17 trading days.
Rehearse the Think Capital challenge on a real chart
The button opens CRTLAB with prop firm mode running on Think Capital's Dual Step (Intraday) rules. The chart's HUD carries your progress to target, the distance to the max loss and the daily floor, and it calls the verdict — passed, phase two, or breached — the moment a rule is hit, exactly as the firm's dashboard would. Every Think Capital program and account size is one click away in the rules panel, and so are the other 98 firms in the catalogue.
What makes it a rehearsal rather than a demo account: you replay real historical data, candle by candle, on any of 38 markets from 1-minute to weekly, and you can do in an evening what a live challenge takes a month to show you. Run the same week three times with three different risk sizes and watch which one the static floor catches.
There is no account to fund and no time limit on practice — the replay waits for you. When your rehearsals pass consistently, you know the edge survives Think Capital's rules before the fee is spent.
