The short version
The gold volume profile stacks every candle's volume by price: the point of control, the 70% value area, and the high- and low-volume nodes between. CRTLAB draws it on your gold replay and recalculates as the replay moves, using only candles you have already seen — and below are 1,109 days of what gold's profile actually did.
Gold's profile, measured
1,109 gold trading days since 2022, each day's profile built from COMEX gold futures (GC) volume. The next day opened inside the prior value area on 65.1% of days, above it on 19.3% and below on 15.6%.
The 80% rule — open outside the value area, get back inside, and price crosses to the other side — completed on 43.9% of 239 gold days that got back in. Not 80%. Price returned to the previous POC on 64.6% of days against 64.8% for a same-distance level on the other side.

Using the profile on a gold replay
Most gold highs and lows of the day come in the New York morning — 31.3% of highs and 31.4% of lows between 08:00 and 12:00 New York, over 2,429 days. Replay those hours with yesterday's value area on the chart and record what price does at its edges.
Volume is COMEX gold futures (GC) traded volume; the profile never includes a candle the replay has not shown you. Full method and every market: volume profile statistics.
